THE OBJECTIVES OF JESAP
The Job Evaluation and Salary Administration Program (JESAP) will provide the basis for a sound and continuing salary administrative program for your organization. Through a comprehensive process, JESAP accomplishes the following organizational objectives:
PLANNING
- Establishes the basis for effective organizational planning and the means for a method of annual salary budgeting.
- Points out any need or opportunities or organizational restructure which might increase operational efficiency.
- Facilitates planning of personnel requirements and costs associated with organization expansion.
ADMINISTRATION
- Establishes fair relationships between compensation and responsibility, assuring better management of salary expense and assisting in the elimination of internal inequities between various job classifications.
- Serves as a guide for the rendering of numerous appraisals and decisions each year regarding salary administration.
- Provides a source of information on salary structures which are external to the organization.
- Simplifies employee placement within the organization and more clearly defines promotional lines.
- Enables supervisors to more closely stay in touch with the jobs under their supervision, through the preparation of position descriptions.
- Ensures that the organization is complying with various employment laws such as the American Disabilities Act (ADA), Equal Pay Act, etc.
EMPLOYEE MOTIVATION
- Serves as a basis for providing needed motivation to stimulate employees where the opportunity for different performance levels exist, through having a salary range spread which enables the matching of pay to performance.
- Provides a foundation for better systems of performance review, individual development, and management training.
- Produces sound salary ranges and guidelines for merit increases, with salary adjustments being based on productivity levels.
- Improves the organization's ability to attract and hold capable people, thereby reducing turnover.
